Accepted Poster Guidance

It is expected that all accepted abstracts will be presented as a poster. Therefore, if your abstract has been accepted as an oral presentation, you are still expected to bring a physical poster. 

The posters will be displayed on pin walls that measure 1.2m x 1.8m. 

All posters MUST be printed in PORTRAIT ORIENTATION. 

You will be allocated a poster board number and this will be emailed to you along with the time and date of your poster session. 

Submission Guidance

Posters and networking are a highlight of TT meetings. Several talks at TT2026 will be selected from submitted abstracts. Individuals invited to present a talk are also asked to present a poster so meeting attendees can more fully explore the topic.

The abstract should be a concise, standalone summary of the most important aspects of your abstract, with a one to a few sentences on each of these subheadings.

  • Background: What was the impetus for this project? What technologies were your building on? Why was the current state of the art not sufficient?
  • Aim: What were the goals of this work? What roadblocks was this study designed to overcome? What gap is being filled?
  • Methods: What experimental approaches were used? How were the results evaluated?
  • Results: What were the main results of the study (including numbers, if appropriate)? These may be actual, preliminary or expected, with a clear indication as to which they are.
  • Conclusions: What were the main conclusions? Why are the results important? How does this improve on the state-of-the-art for transgenic technologies? Where will they lead? If the study is not yet complete, what will you be able to determine once you have the results.

 

All abstracts are limited to 300 words. Longer abstracts will not be accepted. If you include the above headers in your submission these will not be included in the total word count but will show below. For example, if you include all 5 headings, the word count will go into the red and will show 305. You will still be able to submit with 305 words.

If you do not use subheadings, then use clear language to delineate each section, such as “Our aim was to…”, for the aim; “To address…” or “We approached…” for the methods; “Here we show…” or “We found…”, for the main results; “Our results demonstrate…”, and/or “We anticipate that…” for the conclusions and recommendations or future work that needs to be done.

The abstract should be written for all members of the ISTT which comprises a broad audience of technicians, professionals and researchers. Do not assume too much or too little background with the topic.

All information in the abstract should also be presented in the poster.

Avoid:

  • Using the first paragraph of the introduction as an abstract
  • Citations in the abstract
  • Acronyms (but if used, spell them out)
  • Referring to figures or tables in your poster
  • Use of words like “new”, “novel”, “interestingly”, “surprisingly” or “excitingly”, or phrases like “in this poster,” or “will be discussed.”

Conditions of Submission

  • Abstracts will only be considered if submitted in English 
  • Abstracts must follow the structure provided in the submission portal.
  • Abstracts will be blind reviewed, therefore the body of your abstract should not contain author details.
  • All author and co-author information should be entered to the submission system when prompted (affiliation tab). 
  • Abstracts cannot be edited once submitted. Please ensure all the information is correct before submitting. 
  • You can save a draft of your submission before submitting to ensure you are happy with the detail. You must remember to submit your draft before the deadline. If you do not submit your abstract by the deadline, your abstract will not be reviewed.

Important Information

1. It is expected that all accepted abstracts will be presented as a poster. Therefore, if your abstract has been accepted as an oral presentation, you are still expected to bring a poster. 

2. All accepted abstract presenters (both oral & poster) must register to attend the congress. TT2026 will be a fully in-person congress. If the presenting author has not registered by Tuesday 4th August 2026, the abstract will automatically be withdrawn from the programme.
